Happy Left-Hander’s Day! I am a lefty myself. Roughly 10 percent of the world population is left-handed. There’s an odd kinship between lefties. Maybe it is our mutual hatred of mechanical crank pencil sharpeners or just a celebration of our stubborn uniqueness that defies the laws of natural selection.
There are a lot of lefties in the art world, Michaelangelo, Leonardo DaVinci, and Raphael were all lefties (That’s three out of four Ninja Turtle named artists!) But if you were to guess what job has the highest percentage of left-handers over the past 40 years you might be surprised to find out it is President of the United States!
Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford were all left-handed! That’s six out of eight presidents! That’s a whopping 75 percent!
A lot of my heroes were left-handed, from Ben Franklin and Cathy Guisewite to M.C. Escher and Mark Twain (My second cousin five times removed).
So if you are a lefty have a happy day and give out a shout! You are part of a select and unique group!
