Cartoon Academy: Playful Pets with Joe Wos
in Celebration of National Cartoonists Day
PITTSBURGH — WQED Education continues its offerings to students, parents and teachers with a pet-themed themed compilation of an innovative and fun project – cartooning. This educational video series was created in collaboration with WQED Education and WQED Production to support the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s “Learning Neighborhoods” initiative.
Cartoon Academy: Playful Pets with Joe Wos airs Thursday, May 5 at 8pm on WQED and on WQED’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-AEL8gVLjE&t
To celebrate National Cartoonists Day, Pittsburgh cartoonist Joe Wos takes student viewers of all ages through the creative steps of drawing cartoon characters, while sharing educational facts on the cartoon subjects. Viewers will also learn artistic terms during each lesson. In this special 21-minute episode, sketch along with Joe as he draws a happy dog, a fancy hamster and a wary fish.
Cartoon Academy is made possible through the support of the Allegheny Regional Asset District, Central Catholic High School, Mark Kistler’s Imagination Initiative, and National Cartoonists Society Foundation
