A lot of great cartoonists have served in the military, from my hero Charles M. Schulz to Walt Disney and a slew of others… But I think the cartoonist most often identified with the Armed Services is the great Bill Mauldin.
Photos of him when he was overseas give the appearance of a baby faced imp.

I also decided to include a classic Jeep as both at tribute to one of his most famous cartoons and to the Jeep’s origins in my home of Western Pennsylvania.
